Raditya is back from summer school in the Netherlands

Recently, Neso Indonesia has invited Raditya ‘kambing jantan’ Dika, an Indonesian writer who also loves blogging, to join a Summer Course (European Culture and Identities) at the Utrecht University Summer School from 5 – 18 July 2008.

For Raditya these two weeks in The Netherlands has been a very exciting experience and an eye opener to him. He said that he certainly would like to go back to visit the Netherlands and is also planning to do a trip through Europe in the future. Besides meeting and making new friends from all over the world and taking in a lot of new impressions, the short course on Europe also helped him understanding current trends and developments in Europe better.

The most striking thing he said is that he didn’t had to learn Dutch first to study in the Netherlands. “I could survive in the Netherlands, a non native English speaking country, with my English language skills only! I love Holland. The Dutch people are very open and friendly towards international students. They do not judge you or anybody else, so you can be very free in what you want to do”.

“I felt like I have just recharged my battery after coming back from Holland. And I learned from the Dutch people that we should try to make more time for ourselves to enjoy life more”.

Raditya has recounted his experiences in his blog in a funny and sometimes hilarious way. For further reading about his trip to the Netherlands, click here
