Delft team wins bridge-building contest

A team of graduate, student and retired TU people needed just one day to build a bridge with a ten-metre span and a load-bearing capacity of 16,800 kg. This performance won the team ‘The Grass on the Other Side’, which called its bridge ‘Greener’, 30,000 euros in the Martens Building Competition in Oosterhout.
Last Friday, 18 April, six teams in this competition, which is run by the Brabant-based construction company Martens, were given a day to build a bridge with a ten-metre span. The quality of the bridges was tested on Saturday, under the watchful eye of 500 spectators.
