Study in Holland gets new image
06 Nov 2007
It’s been an intensive process the last few months, developing a new logo for the Dutch higher education brand. But it’s now ready.
With the new logo, Dutch higher education will be able to strengthen its profile. From next year, the new brand will replace the current visual design elements of Study in Holland.
Graphic, dynamic, open
The logo is very contemporary, and is certainly an eye-catcher among those of other players in the higher education sector. The emphasis is on the graphic design components of the logo, an area in which the Netherlands enjoys international renown. It’s diagonal orientation eludes to being different, but self-confident. The logo resembles a ribbon or a rosette, and therefore symbolizes quality.
The various elements of the design represent diversity – a broad range of English-taught programmes, the binary system, but also diversity of cultures in the classroom – as well as openness – the teaching method used, but also the openness of society.
Symbols
The logo includes symbols which represent characteristic features of Holland (tulips and water), but also ones to represent our education system (book, academic cap, conical flask). Other symbols stand for progress and innovation: the light bulb represents innovation and ideas, while the wind turbines represent a sustainable future.
The logo is therefore a combination of internationally recognizable symbols and a national flavour: education, the Netherlands and progress. All of course in Nuffic orange.
The new brand will be officially introduced in January 2008. The brand will also form the basis of further development of the new Study in Holland campaign.
